Eastern Savings & Loans Credit Union is a financial cooperative authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority and operates as a financial service provider for residents, employees or volunteers within our Common Bond of East Anglia.
Eastern Savings & Loans Credit Union was established to provide accessible and low-cost financial services to the community. Our key aim is to combat economic disadvantage, to provide a social benefit, and to deliver value for money services to the residents of Norfolk, Suffolk & Cambridgeshire.
The core services of Eastern Savings & Loans Credit Union are the provision of savings and loan facilities to its members.
Eastern Savings & Loans Credit Union, based in Ipswich, extends its operation throughout East Anglia. Members have easy access to online applications, online banking and a helpful customer services team. We provide comprehensive information and documentation to our members through the Eastern Savings & Loans Credit Union website.
The credit union will benefit from your contribution; but volunteering can also benefit you as an individual, giving you the opportunity to:
- Use existing skills and learn new ones.
- Receive full training.
- Be part of a team and make new friends.
- Help residents of Norfolk, Suffolk & Cambridgeshire access secure savings and low cost loans.
We really value the contributions that volunteers make to our work.
Applicants do not need to be existing members but would be required to become members. The roles are voluntary but reasonable expenses are paid. They provide the opportunity to become involved in leading a co-operative business providing an important financial and social service to members.

We would welcome conversations with professionals who have experience in marketing, audit, risk, IT or human resources. We will benefit from applying your specific skills and knowledge in delivering our strategy, you will gain valuable experience and recognition in helping grow a socially valuable enterprise. If you are an experienced non-executive director or looking to start your NED career then we would be pleased to hear from you.
Please note: For all Directors, we will require personal and employment details and will also require references. You will be identified as a director on The Financial Conduct Authority Register and if you take on a senior role you will be registered under the Senior Manager Function (SMF) regime.
We have strong foundations to support the growth of our business and we want you to help deliver our ambitious plans.
We would welcome conversations with professionals who have experience in accounting, finance or auditing. We will benefit from your ability to read and interpret financial statements and to understand the law governing credit unions. You will gain valuable experience and credit for keeping our socially valuable enterprise on track.
