East of England Co-Op Funerals - Eastern Savings and Loans
East of England Co-Op Funerals

You can apply for a loan to help with the cost of a Co-Op funeral.

Eastern Savings and Loans Credit Union has agreed to help with the East of England Co-Op Funeral Service commitment to the Fair Funerals Pledge.

We aim to help those arranging a funeral who may not immediately have access to the funds to pay for the funeral of their choice.

We can bridge the gap between any funds you have and the cost of your chosen funeral. We pay the Co-Op directly and you pay the loan back by standing order.

We are an ethical co-operative social enterprise who share the Co-Op’s values and principles.

  • Special interest rate of 14% APR.
  • Loans from £1,500 to £7,500
  • Direct payment of your funeral costs.
  • Ethical cooperative social enterprise.

The credit union is a members cooperative and only members can borrow from the credit union. It costs £5.00 to join the credit union (£3.00 goes towards your minimum shareholding) and we have a £1.00 four-weekly membership fee.
Applicants must provide identity information to enable us to carry out Anti-Money Laundering checks, which are normally done online. If this is not possible, we will have to see verified copies of documents such as a driving licence or passport and a utility bill or similar documents.
Give us a call on 03336000690 and we can post out a paper application pack.
We consider all loan applications based on the affordability and credit risk. We will ensure all payments for the loan are affordable based on your disposable income and we may ask you to provide supporting evidence such as bank statement data. The quickest way to provide this is through our Open Banking service provided by our partner ConsentsOnline, but if this is not possible, we may require copies of statements.
We use Credit Reference Agencies (such as Experian) to ensure you are meeting any existing credit commitments and our loan officer will look at your credit history to understand your relationship with other lenders.
We are unlikely or unable to lend to people who have:
– A current Debt Relief Order,
– A current Individual Voluntary Agreement,
– A bankruptcy order in place,
– An active County Court Judgement for a sum greater than £500,
– A Monthly income less than £1,200 per month.
